My Splat Experience

----

I wanted to make this post because back in 2016, I made a hair post with tips I used to make my hair nice and it included a lot of hair dying tips. The post was very low on views which honestly, right now I'm okay with. I don't want to delete it because it actually has some smart tips (says me) but I wanted to tell you my experience with my recent hair dye experience. It includes the hair color, Splat, which in my 2016 post, I praised. No more will I praise it.

It all started on the day after my birthday. I dyed my friend's hair with the lavender Splat dye and she didn't use the lightener bleach that it came with so I thought "....I'm going to bleach my hair." Now, I've dyed my whole head with Splat bleach many times. I even dyed my black hair with the bleach and everything was fine.

I looked at the bleach powder package and it looks different than the ones I used to use but it expired in 2019 so I was fine. The oxide bottle that I put the powder in looked different too, but I put it up to a new design. I start bleaching my hair, bottom of my hair, roots last.

Now, I have purple tips from a brand called N'Rage (which is demi-permanent and TERRIBLE. It stays in your hair well, but it bleeds even when the water in the shower runs clear, which I still don't understand...It just stains EVERYTHING). So I used the bleach on my tips and it turned a dark pink. Which honestly, I could live with. BUT THEN, it turned my natural brown hair GREEN. I had nothing under my brown. I didn't even have blue or anything underneath. I COULDN'T HAVE ANYTHING UNDER! IT WAS NATURAL. But but all means, it dyed my immediate roots....

(Here's pics of the incident.)

I freaked out so bad that I contacted my friend who is in cosmetology school what to do. Her teacher told her that I should crush vitamin C tablets with Head and Shoulders and wash my hair a lot and it should take the green out. I washed my hair 5 times with the stuff and it made my green DARKER.

(Here's a pic of my disgusting unbrushed hair that I washed 7 times)

I tweeted Splat because I was in distress and mad, but I was also confused. They never got back to me. I even googled why my brown hair turned green and nothing turned up. HAS THIS NOT HAPPENED TO ANYONE?!?!?

I washed my hair a total of 7 times that night with different remedies and by the morning, my colors were a BIT lighter. But not by much. My brown hair showed through a lot more though.

3 days later, after wearing a beanie twice to work because I was so ashamed and embarrassed, my friend bleached my hair with better bleach (ION bleach, I think? Don't quote me). It didn't take out that darn purple (that Splat turned pink) but now it was very light pink, which I can always cut off when my short hair gets longer. The ends of my hair also turned a white color which is actually my ultimate goal for my whole head. It looks really cool now, different colors of blonde.

(Me now)

Now, I will never be using Splat again. Another Splat personal story: I once bought a blue color at Walmart. Got home and found out that the unopened box didn't contain the dye at all! I emailed Splat, the lady got VERY mad and defensive because I didn't contact Walmart instead I contacted Splat directly. Which was unprofessional on her end. She ended up sending me my dye: in an already opened box and ALREADY USED DYE!!!!!!!!! I vowed to never use Splat again and I didn't until this time around when I only used the bleach.

The company of Splat needs to either change their bleach formula or at least apologize for all the hell they put me through, with that rude lady and me almost shaving my head because of the green.

In conclusion, according to professional friends, Splat hair color is terrible for your hair. Please don't use Splat. I can't really stop you, but please think about the consequences just in case you use it.
